conservation.healthyplanet.org represents the environment and development arm of the Healthy Planet Foundation, a UK registered charity with a focus on helping you to build a healthier future for the planet and its people.
Our main focus, HP Guardian, enables you to
support conservation by adopting plots in protected parks throughout the world and helping to map the parks, monitor the parks and fund conservation actions in the parks. All the parks are already protected by law but sustainable conservation requires much more than legal protection. At the very least it requires:
- freely accessible information on the park boundaries, infrastructure and access,
- freely accessible information on threats from human activity including monitoring and early warning of dramatic forest cover change,
- adequate funding for park infrastructure, wardens, monitoring and environmental education,
- the provision of sustainable livelihoods for the human populations living in and around these parks,
- a recognition of the economic value of protected areas to us as individuals and societies.
Healthy Planet Foundation does not work on the ground. we provide the tools to enable you to map, monitor and fund projects, thereby supporting conservation, environment and development organisations working in some of the world's most important and threatened parks. Together with you we can support sustainable conservation for the most important protected areas.
